Bead Soup Party

My beads from Aimg_4611drienne Campbell, who is my partner in the bead soup swap. I think she knows how  I like working with greens and I love rainforest jasper.  I will have fun making  a necklace with my swap beads. Its funny because I sent her greens too. Please stop by and take a look at Adrienne’s blog, she just had surgery on her hand. Hope you are having a fast recovery Adrienne

I will be making my bead soup party necklace and the post early and setting it to publish on the 10th. Because I will be on vacation in Tucson. I am excited about getting to go again.

Be sure and check all the bead soup party blogs on Feb. 10th and see what everyone made. To see all blogs participating see Lori Anderson’ s blog

Guinea Chicks (keets)

img_2697img_2699Yesterday this Guinea hatched out 9 chicks, she was setting on the eggs under a snowball bush. I took the chicks away and put them in the brooder box. The Guineas do not do a good job of raising the chicks, they can’t keep track of them and the cats like to catch them.  She  had 2 more eggs under her so she was still setting. Today I checked on her and she had hatched out 1 more. I just left it with her, I felt bad about taking all the others. It was an hour or so later and I was on my way to the garden and noticed she was off the nest. I walked over closer to see what she was doing, she had lost the chick and couldn’t find it. It was way out in the grass, so I thought I would pick it up and put it closer to her. It started to chirp and she thought I was going to take it I guess. She started at me and I backed up and fell down and she was flogging me and got my neck while I was on the ground. I don’t think I will be helping her anytime soon.

Key and Leather Necklace

Key connector from Chinook Jewelry by you.Key connector from Chinook JewelryKey connector from Chinook Jewelry

I always need a key

Key connector made by Mellisa of Chinook Jewelry (isn’t it cool?). Also fancy jasper, copper, sterling silver, green Peruvian opal, brass key charm and brown leather. This is the 2nd key connector of Mellisa’s I have used in jewelry and have really enjoyed working with her creations.  You can see a larger view at my flickr photostream.

Tomorrow I will post a picture of my May Art Bead Scene challenge. I also used a piece of Mellisa’s work as my art bead in the necklace. You can visit Mellisa’s blog here.

Steve’s Garden

A Varmint In The Tree

img_1817img_1820img_1819

Saturday morning Ellie and I were going to look at the garden and we heard the guineas making all kinds of noise. It took a minute to see what was going on, they were chasing a possum. They chased him till he ran up a tree to get away from them. Then they went about there business and didn’t pay him any more attention. I don’t know why but we have way too many varmints this year, as in skunks and possums. Annie (our dog) has been sprayed 4 times already. Have a look at the possum’s paws, the claws look sharp

I did take some pictures in the yard of flowers and plants. My poor little clematis got froze back when we had the last snow so didn’t get a very good start.

Beautiful Blue

I have worked more with blue lately than usual. The blue gray color of this porcelain pendant from Mellisa at Chinook jewelry is beautiful. The color is blue charcoal and it looks great with the 2 different kynites and the pearls. I also used some Swarovski crystals, sterling silver, seed beads and Hilltribe Thai silver flower. I will add to my etsy shop tonight.

I came across your Etsy shop and blog recently. Having grown up in Liberal, I enjoy reading your blog and seeing your lovely jewelry designs. Since I moved away 20 years ago, I feel connected with Kansas a little more through your site.

I love the colors and design of your giveaway bracelet.

Thank you Pam for all your kind words. I am glad you found my Etsy shop and blog.  Hope you enjoy wearing your new bracelet.

I would like to thank all of you who left comments and kind words. It was so good to hear from everyone. I hope you will all keep coming back and letting me know what you think of my jewelry and the web/blog.

I will be posting a new recipe on Sunday so be sure and come check it out.

It will be a special post for Yolanda. Hope she likes  yummy desserts.
